Sunday the 12th of August marked the end of the London Summer Olympics 2012 with a spectacular closing ceremony viewed on television by millions across the globe. During the approximately 3 hour show we were lucky to witness a mind-blowing array of colour, lighting, and costume, while the performers showed the world a glimpse into our country with acts from the likes of Eric Idle, Russell Brand, Queen, Jessie J, Annie Lenox, Kate Moss, The Royal Ballet and many more.
Those of you who witnessed the amazing spectacle of both the opening and closing ceremonies should have noticed that umbrellas were featured heavily throughout. Whether it was merely for the sake of theatre and costume, or a tongue-in-cheek reminder of our typical English weather, the show provided a wonderful example of how umbrellas can be used not only as rain protection but for theatrical purposes too. We supplied many of the umbrellas, and feel proud that we here at Umbrella Heaven played out part in the London 2012 Olympics.
